Certification Procedure

Written by Wednesday, 22 February 2017 13:38
Certification procedure

Due to the nature of the subject, the public ISO 14298 standard does not detail the specific measures that companies need to take in order to secure their production processes.

Therefore, Intergraf provides Implementation Guidelines and Intergraf Certification Requirements (ICR) exclusively developed for the security printing industry and the specific needs of this market.

These requirements are confidential and not publicly available as access to these documents needs to be limited to security printers.

Well-known associations such as the UPU (Universal Postal Union), a United Nations organisation, and IHMA (International Hologram Manufacturers Association) recognise and recommend certification according to ISO 14298 and to the Intergraf Certification Requirements (ICR).

A 6-step process

Organisation contacts certification@intergraf.eu to request information and an application form.
Intergraf sends the application form.

Organisation completes and returns the application form and required materials to Intergraf.
Intergraf acknowledges receipt, issues a registration number, and invoices the first half of the administration fee.

Screening begins as soon as payment is received.
Intergraf reviews the application file submitted within 21 days of payment.

Positive Screening Result

If positive, Intergraf sends the Intergraf-owned, confidential Intergraf Certification Requirements (ICR) and Implementation guidelines, and invoices the second half of the administration fee.
Intergraf provides contact details of Intergraf-accredited certification bodies.
Organisation requests an offer from Intergraf-accredited certification body and schedules on-site audit.
Organisation is advised to get the official ISO standard documents from www.iso.org

Authorised certification body conducts on-site audit.
Authorised certification body presents its audit findings and recommendations to Intergraf.
Intergraf finalises and sends audit report to organisation for review.

If the audit is successful, or if non-conformities are resolved by corrective actions within a timeframe of 3 months, Intergraf issues the certificate.
Organisation receives the original certificate.
Certification details are published on www.securityprinters.org.
On-site control audits take place 12 and 24 months after the initial audit.

Authorised certification bodies

After a positive screening, an audit can be scheduled with one of Intergraf’s two authorised certification bodies:

Intergraf's Committee of Experts

Written by Thursday, 12 January 2017 13:13
Intergraf's Committee of Experts
What makes Security Printers different?

Security Printers draws on the vast experience and knowledge of a dedicated Committee of Experts, composed of senior banknotes and security documents professionals from the industry and law enforcement. Appointed by Intergraf, they overview the preparation and delivery of each conference and exhibition.

Our Committee Members meet regularly throughout the year to make Security Printers a rewarding experience. Immediately after the event ends, they analyse feedback gathered from speakers, exhibitors and delegates, to review goals and highlight priorities for the next. Discussions then begin to define and build sessions for a balanced conference programme of a uniformly high standard.

Committed to presenting the most relevant and interesting content, they collaborate closely to:

Define thematic and transversal directions that engage with the most pressing issues in the fields of banknotes and identity documents today
Identify topics and trends that hold particular promise for the immediate and more distant future
Evaluate proposals submitted in response to the call for papers
Recruit high-profile speakers from across the industry worldwide
Work with speakers to offer a unique, independent framework for interaction and debate
Advise on the eligibility of companies wishing to attend or exhibit

Since October 2016, Intergraf’s Committee of Experts is chaired by Dieter Sauter.

Code of Ethics

Written by Friday, 01 April 2016 13:14
Code of Ethics for Postage Stamps Security Printers

Postage stamp security printers play an important role in the stamp production chain.

In view of the increasing number of postage stamps illegally printed, issued and sold by stamp dealers and printers of unreliable or doubtful reputation, the philatelic industry has adopted a Code of Ethics for Postage Stamp Security Printers.

Intergraf is a constituent partner of the World Association for the Development of Philately (WADP), an industry group within the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which recommended that a Code of Ethics for Postage Stamp Security Printers be established.

Postage stamp security printers worldwide who want to be recognised as such are required to agree to this Code of Ethics for Postage Stamp Security Printers.

All the signatories of the Code of Ethics for Postage Stamp Security Printers commit to apply for certification as a security printer according to ISO 14298 Management of Security Printing Processes within a period of six months of signing of this code.

To become a signatory of the Code of Ethics for the Postage Stamp Security Printers, please contact certification@intergraf.eu for further information.

After signing the Code of Ethics you will have 12 months to get ISO 14298 certified according to the Intergraf Certification Requirements.

During this period your company will stay advertised on www.securityprinters.org.

As long as your company remains certified against ISO 14298 and as long as it is not acting against the rules of the Code of Ethics for the Postage Stamps Security Printers, it will remain advertised on that page.
